This position performs a variety of routine clerical, reception, computer and customer service work involving the daily operations and financial transactions of Sandhill Crane Golf Club and other related work as required and assigned. This position involves frequent interaction with the public, including guests and pass holders of the golf course, and requires the ability to communicate and interact in a professional, friendly, positive, and tactful manner always. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include weekend and holiday responsibilities.
This position performs a variety of routine tasks in front desk operations including reserving tee times, collecting Greens/Cart fees, greeting the public, issuing passes, selling retail items and assisting the full-time staff assigned to golf operations. Experience with the game of golf and strong customer service skills are required. Applicant must also be available to work on-call.
This position is also responsible for efficiently managing tee times at Sandhill Crane Golf Club while exhibiting extraordinary customer service skills.
Essential Function Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs clerical and administrative duties, provides customer service by answering telephones, receiving the public and making tee time reservations
- Receives, processes, and verifies the accuracy of all daily funds, registrations and bank deposits at the golf course utilizing the golf point-of-sale computer system
- Assists with golf shop retail operations, organizing and labeling inventory daily
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with golf course staff and guests of the golf course
- Works in the spirit of cooperation with golf course staff and management to enhance the process of participant registration and participation that achieves the goals of positive customer service
- Communicates with participants about financial matters such as declined checks, outstanding payments and refunds
- Utilizes the P.O.S. and Tee Time Reservation system to provide an accurate account of the golf course finances
- Maintains all financial records in accordance with the Records Retention Law
- Acts as Manager-on-Duty in the absence of Golf Management Team Members
- Assists with explaining and enforcing golf course rules and regulations
- Fields questions, concerns, and complaints related to course operations
- Assists with the planning and facilitation of special golf activities and events
- Provides outstanding service to each customer
- Welcomes guests to the golf course; arranges players in proper starting order, and maintains pace of play on the course
- Informs guests of course and cart path rules; explains processes to customers such as retrieving range balls, how the golf cart GPS functions, etc.
- Collects receipts from each customer to verify check-in; properly records tee times and cart numbers
- Maintains constant communication with all other Outside Services Team Members and Rangers to notify them of slow play or other concerns
- Responds to all customer concerns, questions, and complaints in a positive, respectful, and courteous manner always; reports these comments to a supervisor
- Keeps starter's area as well as the 1st and 10th tees clean
- Assists with tournaments
- Fills in and/or covers the ranger or cart attendant shifts as needed
- Upholds the policies and procedures of the Sandhill Crane Golf Club and the City of Palm Beach Gardens
- Acts as an ambassador of the Club and the City both on and off the clock
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of clerical experience and customer service skills required
- General knowledge of the methods, materials and practices used in golf course operations
- Exceptional skills in customer service, organization, and time management
- Exceptional ability to interact with the general public, in person and on the telephone
- Any related combination of education, training and experience
Special Qualifications/Preferences
- Valid State of Florida Driver's License with a good driving record
Pension Plan:* *Provided through the Florida Retirement System (FRS). Choice between the Investment Plan with a one (1) year vesting schedule, and the Pension Plan with an eight (8) year vesting schedule. Mandatory 3% pre-tax contribution.
