Equipment Operator Overview

We are seeking an Equipment Operator for our Golf Course Maintenance. This position reports to the Director of Golf Course Maintenance and is responsible for operating large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance equipment.

Schedule: This position requires flexibility in scheduling, able to work holidays, weekends, and sometimes late shifts.

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: Starting at $13.00, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other motorized equipment.
• Mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

• Mows fairways and roughs with gang units.
• Operates all types of equipment; turf vac, skip-loader, aerifiers, sprayers.
• May operate smaller equipment as directed by his/her supervisor.
• Ensures that the equipment cooling system is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Equipment Manager immediately.
• Provides basic preventive maintenance on equipment as directed by the equipment manager or assistant superintendent, and returns equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility.
• Other duties may be assigned, as needed.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

Working Environment

The noise level in the work environment is somewhat moderate; ear protection will be made available. Employee realizes that this is an outdoor job; therefore the employee can expect to work in extreme heat, cold and rainy environment.
