Position Summary
The Billing Follow-up Specialist is responsible for assuring the billing processes, practices, and procedures result in appropriate reimbursement effectively and efficiently. Provides follow-up activities which include interaction with patients and third-party payors.
The Billing Follow-up Specialist’s decisions and actions with patients and families are determined in an ethical manner practicing compassion and respect for the inherent dignity, worth and unique attributes of each person. All areas of work are provided to achieve and maintain top decile results and outcomes for patient experience, quality, and patient safety. The Billing Follow-up Specialist follows and adheres to ARHS policies and procedures, regulatory requirements, and standards of behavior.

The Billing Follow-up Specialist demonstrates professional conduct, effective communication, and effective delegation of tasks. Performs duties under general supervision. Always assists coworkers, patients, families, and visitors regardless of the patient assignment, so long as the assistance is in-line with their scope of practice and license.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Hiring compensation ranges from $15.50 - $22.75 / hourly. This is a non-exempt position that is benefits eilgible after a 60-day waiting period.
Minimum Education
-
Associate Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
Experience
-
3 years of experience working in billing environment
-
Billing experience in a large, acute care hospital is preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, family, staff, and physician and acts within the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills

Previous experience in medical (including Medicare) billing both professional and
-
Experience with CPT and ICD9 codes

Knowledge of the continuum of care provided in the organization
-
Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service to patients, family, staff, and physicians
