Detailed Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Grant Assistant is to provide administrative assistance and logistical support to the RIT multimillion-dollar CyberCorps Scholarship for Service (SFS) grant funded by the National Science Foundation.
The grant assistant's responsibilities include: planning and providing logistical support for PI's and scholars, processing scholarship applications, screening applicant qualification information, tracking academic progress, scheduling interviews and appointments, scheduling student activities, managing student and PI/Co-PI travel, fielding questions from students and parents, maintaining grant procurement card. The position also requires coordinating and liaising with many different offices and departments: program coordinators, academic advisors (in CSEC, SE, and CS), GCCIS dean's office, financial aid, accounts payable, the NSF and OPM offices, and partner CyberCorps institutions. Secondary responsibilities include providing similar administrative assistance and logistical support to the Cyber Scholarship Program (CySP) grant from the Department of Defense. Due to the first five years' resounding success, the grant has been renewed recently for another five years till 2024. We are confident the grant will be renewed again in the future.
A small portion of the role will support events hosted by the Computing Security department.
The position is primarily in-person, with the possibility of 1-2 days remote work per week, at the supervisor's discretion and in accordance with University policies and guidelines.

The Department:
In July of 2012, the Department of Computing Security at RIT was established to address critical security challenges cutting across computing disciplines. The department currently has 14 full-time faculty and is committed to excellence in teaching and research. The department offers the Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in computing security with current enrollment of 523 and 89 students, respectively. We also have a PhD program, which is administered within the Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences. We are designated as one of National Centers for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense and in Research by the Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency, and we are ranked 28th in the nation among undergraduate cybersecurity programs by U.S. News & World Report. The department seeks to advance the discipline of cybersecurity and to meet the rapidly growing need of cybersecurity professionals in the workforce. RITs cyber defense team is a perennial contender in the National Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition and won the national championship in 2013. The department engages in a wide range of research in topics such as Cyber Analytics, Applied Cryptography, Privacy, IoT Security, Network Security, Usable Security, and Cybersecurity Pedagogy.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
1 - 3 years of related experience working with grants
3 - 5 years of experience working in higher education
Skills:
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Customer service oriented
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
