Summary:

As part of the leadership team at Grace Health, s/he will play a pivotal role in supporting a high-performance development department focused on grant initiatives and donor relations to further optimize and support the mission of Grace Health.

This position will advance the strategy of development programs for Grace Health. Further, serve as an advisor, influencer, and enabler for enhanced development program initiatives, while ensuring that an integrated and well-coordinated system-wide strategic development program leverages opportunities for all areas of Grace Health. This individual will leverage his/her skills as a highly collaborative professional with solid experience of building funding sources that help improve health outcomes for patients, provide increased revenue streams, and make a program impact. This includes bringing together stakeholders in multiple departments and collaborating with external organizations that impact the communities within our service areas. This position has day to day responsibility to grant initiatives and donor relations in support of the Grace Health strategic goals.

This position supports the leadership team and staff to make consistent and progressive steps toward improving the grant portfolio. Has the ability to deliver information in a concise and direct manner regardless of the nature of the subject matter. Articulates the goals, objectives and decisions in logical and understandable formats. As a voice/advocate of Grace Health, she or he must have strong written and verbal communication skills. She or he will be a persuasive, credible, and polished communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills. This individual must work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations. This position reports regularly to the Director of Development and Growth and/or the CFO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Grant Initiatives (includes but not limited to):
    • Support the planning and organization of all grant-funded programs for Grace Health
    • Conduct initial review of grant opportunities and submission guidelines to determine feasibility; suggest positioning and make recommendations for funded projects
    • Create a summary of all pertinent information for all the proposed grant awards
    • Develop a timely work plan with specific responsibilities and deadlines to administer and achieve the goals and objectives of the grant awards
    • Manage all assigned grant submissions to ensure timeliness and accuracy
    • Support the team(s) to ensure the grant is administered in compliance with applicable state and federal laws/regulations and all applicable terms and conditions
    • Manage and maintain all the required data/numbers necessary to apply for grants i.e. DUNS, SAM, grants.gov, etc.
    • Coordinate to ensure all budgets and forecasts are completed accurately and timely and properly support the grant activities in accordance with grant requirements
    • Strong understanding of internal policies regarding grant management
    • Research new grant opportunities and industry trends and maintain internal databases
    • Collaborate with other departments on program development needs and participate in planning stages of Grace Health programs and/or projects
    • Understand and communicate grant impact on Grace Health operations and collaborate with other departments as needed
    • Monitor progress against program goals and communicate with grant project managers to gain understanding of work timelines
    • Support timely submission of all required grant progress reports
    • Communicate all pertinent information (such as delays, spending concerns) to internal stakeholders
    • Keep and maintain all records of grant documents and activities
    • Assist with development of audit of grant programs
    • Meet with Director / CFO regularly to discuss grant strategies and opportunities
  • Donor Relations (includes but not limited to):
    • Support a successful and integrated donor relations program that strategically targets all levels of giving
    • Assist to identify, engage, and attract a network of donors with interest in advancing the mission of Grace Health
    • Keep informed and conduct extensive research on active donors
    • Keep informed about external organizations community/donor initiatives within Grace Health’s service areas
    • Support efforts to optimize Grace Health’s positioning in each service area and foster positive relationships with potential donors
    • Ensures special events are communicated to donors and prospects
    • Track donor relations and stewardship activities in a database to enhance relationships to increase the potential for continued donations
    • Coordinate with Director of Finance to be notified of donations and responsible for acknowledgments, including but not limited to donor thank you letters, meetings with leadership, donor recognition programs, and stewardship materials for all Grace Health team members
  • Other (includes but not limited to)
    • Develop and submit a monthly progress report to Director and/or other leadership
    • Collaborate with IT teams on the development of user tools and data analytics to improve grant program development and monitoring
    • Assist with preparing and submitting the annual Uniform Data System (UDS) report to be submitted to HRSA
    • Provide support for the HRSA Operational Site Visits (OSV)
    • Assist with preparing other financial initiatives where requests are made for the organizations narrative, history, programs and services descriptions, needs assessments, project descriptions etc.
    • Participate on internal and external job-related committees as requested by the Director
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director

    • Team members will participate in Grace Health's advocacy program.

      GENERAL DUTIES:

    • Reports to the Director of Development and Growth and/or Chief Financial Officer, with no direct cost center budget accountability.
    • Assists with management of Grace Health funded grants and grants in process

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

      Required

    • Bachelor's degree required
    • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in grant writer role, ideally in a rapidly evolving institution
    • Successful track record and a strong portfolio of grant awards

      Preferred
    • Master’s Degree in public affairs, research, health care management, social service or any relevant field
    • FQHC or community -based health experience
