Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).
Scope of Work
The Graphic Designer will create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate TMCF constituents. S/he will also be responsible for developing the overall layout and production design for all organizational advertisements, collateral materials, and stationery.
The consultant will:
- Meet with divisions/clients to determine the scope of a project
- Collaborate with Director of Marketing on strategies to reach a particular audience
- Create images that identify a product or convey a message
- Develop graphics and visual or audio images for product illustrations, logos, and websites
- Create designs either by hand or using computer software packages
- Select colors, images, text style, and layout
- Present the design to clients for feedback
- Incorporate changes recommended by the clients/divisions/director into the final design
- Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them
- Create and maintain relations with print vendors
- Oversee and provide direction for additional creative support
- Assist with identification and direction of external photographers
- Analyze and oversee external print vendors and print jobs
- Additional projects as requested
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1-3 years of professional experience
- Full knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CC
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design preferred
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment
- Proven ability to effectively identify problems and offer creative solutions
- The ability to brainstorm, interact, and work in a team environment
- High energy and passion for education is essential
Special Demands
- Occasional extra work time based on time-sensitive projects
Submission Requirements
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $1,953.00 - $2,685.00 per month
Experience:
- Graphic design: 1 year (Preferred)
- Adobe Creative Suite: 1 year (Preferred)
- Adobe Illustrator: 1 year (Preferred)
