The ideal Greenskeeper candidate would be a valued contributor to our purpose of delivering a high-quality playing surface on the golf course and shares a passion for excellence. He or she provides our guests with a memorable experience that will leave them eager to come back. Greenskeepers utilize a variety of power-tools, mowers, and large equipment to perform routinary maintenance practices on assigned areas.

This position will join the Southwest Golf Management (SWGM) team – which operates the Tres Rios Golf Course. Over the coming years, Junior National Foundation will continue to renovate the current course (new mini-verde greens and bunkers installed in 2022) as well as build an additional 18-hole golf course, new driving range and clubhouse on the southern side of the property as well as expanding or rebuilding the maintenance building. Junior National Foundation is a 501c3 Non-Profit organization with the mission to change the lives of youth through the game of golf.

About Tres Rios Golf Club

Located in the foothills of the Estrella Mountains, Tres Rios is a Red Lawrence designed and links-style golf course which opened in the mid 1960’s as one of the first desert courses in the area.

Originally Sierra Estrella, Tres Rios is part of the Estrella Mountain Regional Park, and therefore a municipal course. While having some challenging years in its past, the course is in the process of its revival. Since 2021, the Foundation has put in roughly $2M to improve the Toro irrigation system, completely renovate the greens with mini-verde grass (summer 2022) and the renovation of all bunkers was also completed last year. Much more work to improve this middle-aged gem is in the plans for the coming years including new tees, improved drainage, reduced water usage through irrigated turf reduction and removal of eucalyptus trees, new on-course amenities and regressing of fairways to name but a few. What a great time to be a part of this transformation…and we have barely mentioned building of our 2nd18-hole course and new clubhouse!

Job Requirements/Duties

The Greenskeeper is responsible for an ensuring our lovely golf course is kept in excellent overall condition. This team member is also responsible for mowing, irrigation, equipment, and facility maintenance. This role’s specific duties include but are not limited to:

• Operates a variety of mowers used to cut turf at different heights such as Fairways, Tees, Roughs, and Greens with constant awareness of safety standards.
• Operates string trimmers and different power tools to trim bunkers, around trees, curbs, and cart paths
• Assists with tree pruning with a chainsaw and/or a pole saw
• Assists with overseeding playing areas during winter season
• Maintains sand bunkers by raking/pushing sand to correct erosion from the bunker faces and hand-pulling stolons and edging with a string trimmer
• Ensures golf course signage is always set in the correct manner
• Reports equipment failure or problems to the Mechanic immediately
• Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility
• Fills divots on Tees, Fairways and Driving Range with sand or divot mix
• Blows debris with a backpack blower in the club house area, parking lot, and the golf course as directed
• Moves tee markers from damaged areas and changes cup locations daily
• Communicates with a diverse staff and public in the course of daily operations
• Assists in miscellaneous projects as directed

Job Qualifications:

• Previous Landscaping/Golf Course Maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to follow detailed instructions
• Ability to communicate effectively and maintain a healthy work environment
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and stay focused over extended periods of time with minimal to no supervision
• Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)

Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift 40 lbs. frequently
• Must be able to stand and walk over extended periods of time
• May be required to bend, kneel, climb, reach, push, or pull depending on different jobs
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive different types of equipment including golf carts and utility carts

Hourly/Salary and Compensation Package

$15.00/hour and up DOE

Hourly compensation will be based on candidates experience and qualifications.
