Manual Grinder
As a Manual Grinder your primary responsibility will be to operate and maintain manual grinding machines to shape and finish metal components according to specified dimensions and quality standards. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the production of high-quality components that meet customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Operation: Set up and operate manual grinding machines, such as surface grinders and cylindrical grinders, following work instructions and engineering drawings. Adjust machine controls, including wheel speed, feed rates, and depth of cut, to achieve desired results.
Component Grinding: Perform grinding operations on metal components, including smoothing, shaping, and finishing, using appropriate grinding techniques and tools. Ensure adherence to specified tolerances, dimensions, and surface finishes.
Quality Assurance: Inspect workpieces during and after grinding operations to ensure conformance to quality standards. Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify dimensions and surface finishes. Identify and address any defects or non-conformities.
Tool Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks on grinding machines, including wheel dressing, lubrication, and coolant management. Keep the machines clean and organized, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while operating grinding machines. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain a clean and safe work environment. Report any safety concerns or incidents to the supervisor.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate production records, including quantities produced, inspection results, and any issues encountered. Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance requirements promptly.
Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, such as machine operators, inspectors, and supervisors, to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production. Communicate effectively to address any issues or concerns that may arise during the grinding process.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating manual grinding machines preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of different grinding techniques and tools.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards.
