Overview:

Cardinal Stritch University is currently seeking a qualified candidate for our Athletics department. The Head Athletic Trainer provides educational and technical expertise in supporting all student-athletes and coaches by teaching, educating, consulting, organizing, coordinating, supervising, and implementing the department’s intercollegiate athletic training services for all intercollegiate sports programs offered at Cardinal Stritch University. The Head Athletic Trainer is primarily responsible for assisting in the care and prevention of athletic-related injury, which will be accomplished through the teaching/education/counseling of student-athletes. Additionally, the Head Athletic Trainer will educate and counsel coaches, graduate assistants, student assistant coaches, and student-athletes in proper injury management. The Head Athletic Trainer will be the primary leader in the coordination of pre-participation physical examinations, and medical documentation, as well as carrying out the prevention, evaluation, treatment, education, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The Head Athletic Trainer will attend and oversee practice and game coverage for athletic teams (student-athletes).

• Care and prevention of all athletic injuries and recovery programs
• Administration of emergency care to athletes as needed within his/her training and capabilities
• Teach, educate, counsel student-athletes in proper diet, nutrition, training techniques
• Supervisor of the athletic training room
• Develop educational programs for the prevention of athletic injuries for the various sports
• Work with coaches, athletic and orthopedic consultants/physicians in the care and/or rehabilitation of injured athletes and counsel and mentor student-athletes in their rehabilitation program
• Representing Cardinal Stritch University in a professional manner at all intercollegiate practices, meetings and contests
• Coordination with head coaches of weight/conditioning programs
• Serve as a preceptor and mentor, educate, and counsel athletic training students
• Keeping of adequate and accurate records
• Inventory and ordering of athletic training supplies and equipment
• Formulation of a yearly supplies budget
• Management of athletes’ insurance claims
• Fully cooperate with other staff in running of the department
• Other duties as assigned

• Assistant Athletic Trainers
• Graduate Assistants

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training from an accredited college or university is required; Master’s Degree in Athletic Training or related field preferred
• 3-5 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer preferred
• Experience working in intercollegiate athletics preferred
• Driver’s License
• State of Wisconsin athletic training license (or eligible to obtain)
• Current CPR/AED certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• OSHA & Sexual Harassment Training (upon hire)
• BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
