SUMMARY:

This position assures a supportive role to the teacher by assuring the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of children aged 3-5 through engaging lesson planning and intentional learning environments. The Assistant Teacher supports parent involvement in the development of child and family goals and objectives through case management. Additionally, this position provides support and assistance to the Early Childhood Special Education Program, when needed, to provide collaborative services in the least restrictive environment. This position also ensures accurate record-keeping and completion of necessary forms.

To qualify for this position, applicants must at least meet minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• High School Diploma or GED
• Child Development Associate (CDA) or equivalent mandatory per Head Start Performance Standards, or must be willing to obtain within 1 (one) year of employment
• One to two years of experience working with children & families in a classroom setting
• Willing to obtain valid CPR and First Aid certifications within 6 months from hire
• Must be able to positively influence the learning, emotions, & behavior of children
• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
• Must possess a caring & responsible nature with a high degree of sensitivity to young children & families on and near the Prairie Band Potawatomi Reservation
• Must possess professional work ethics, manner, and appearance
• Must possess the ability to operate general office equipment
• Must be available to work the assigned schedule of M-F, 8:00a-4:30p and flexible as needed to meet the demands of the position.
