Westmoreland Community Action (WCA) is a non-profit organization that works to connect individuals and families to opportunities and resources throughout the community to improve their quality of life and help to reduce poverty in the community. This is accomplished through housing, counseling, support, education, intervention, collaborations, partnerships, information, referrals, and networking.

WCA is currently seeking a Head Start Teacher Assistant. The Teacher Assistant will assist the Teacher with the daily scheduled activities in the classroom to provide a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain the classroom as a safe and healthy learning environment.
• Advance the physical and intellectual competence of the children.
• Build the positive self-concept and individual strengths in each child.
• Organize and sustain the positive functioning of children in a group in a learning environment.
• Participate in staff meetings and training as scheduled and maintain a Professional Development Record.
• Ensure children are supervised in all program related activities.
• Assist the children with self-help skills and/or toileting.

Requirements:

• Minimum of High School Diploma or GED required.
• Act 33, 34 and FBI Clearances.
• Familiarity or involvement with the Head Start Program.
