Head Swim Instructor Job at YMCA OF INDIANA COUNTY
- The Head Swim Instructor is responsible for the coordination and oversight of the Swim Instructors and provide leadership in the aquatics department. The Head Swim Instructor will conduct swimming lessons in compliance with all applicable codes and in accordance with YMCA of the USA guidelines. Must possess, good organizational, communication and relationship building skills. Demonstrates a commitment to YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
The primary function of the Head Instructor will be to safeguard the health and safety of members, class participants, and guests and provide training and mentorship to aquatics team members. Provides support for the smooth operations of the Swim Instruction Program.
- Responsible for conducting classes according to the YMCA of the USA Aquatic Program, adapted where necessary for local conditions.
- Keeps appropriate up-to-date records such as attendance and progress reports for all students.
- Responsible for the efficiency of the lesson program through rigorous adherence to standards set for progression and honest evaluation of student’s abilities. Assists in training swim instructors as necessary.
This position includes responsibilites in scheduling, and coordination of group and individual Swim Instructors.
- 5+ years of teaching experience in aquatics working with children or adults in group settings as a certified instructor and 1+ years experience as a swim instructor.CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in aquatics working with children in a group setting.
- Possess Certified Instrutor and 1+ experience as a Swim Instructor.
- Previous leadership roles (desired)
Moderate lifting and physical effort required for swimming. Exposure to some chemicals. Complete submersion in water is required. Hot and humid environment and/or cold and wet environment.
Equipment Used: Instructional Flotation Devices and/or pool safety equipment and other equipment related to teaching swimming lessons.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
