Health and Activity Aide, Adult Day Health Job at Athens Community Council on Aging
The Athens Community Council on Aging is looking for a full time Health and Activity Aide to provide support and care to our Adult Day Health (ADH) members.
Adult Day Health provides a therapeutic and supportive environment for adult participants with physical or cognitive impairments, while also providing respite for family caregivers.
We have full-time (40 hours per week) positions open in our Athens and Winder locations.
The hours are Monday through Friday, with no nights or weekends.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Provide exceptional care to our members.
- Assist with the planning and leading person-centered activities.
- Provide physical support for members with personal care. This includes bathing, toileting, general hygiene, hair and nail care, eating, and walking.
- Assist with the preparation and serving of meals and snacks.
- Maintain accurate and current records on clients’ meal consumption, and vital signs, and evaluate the general health condition of participants every day and report information to RN.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for participants.
- Keep all participant-related information confidential.
- Evaluate the general health condition of participants every day and report information to RN.
- Work as a member of the ADH team, providing support and coverage as needed.
- We stay busy but like to have fun! A great sense of humor is a must! This position demands comfort with public speaking and a healthy dose of silliness.
- High School diploma or equivalent. Nursing Assistant Certificate preferred. Some job-related experience working with older persons preferred.
- Strong communication and public speaking skills, with the ability to quickly establish a rapport. Ability to communicate with and engage individuals with communication limitations, including hearing loss, aphasia, and dementia.
- Ability to motivate others toward achieving goals.
- The ability to make sound decisions under pressure is required. This position works with confidential information and the ability to use sound judgment regarding this information and maintain confidentiality is required. Ability to work independently with a strong sense of focus is required as well as be task- oriented, non-judgmental with a clear sense of boundaries.
- Ability to talk, hear, and communicate with clients and caregivers and the ability to see and be able to read, write, and interpret written documents is required.
- Physical demands include occasional lifting may be heavy and awkward over 50#. Occasional lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
