Title: Health Educator
Reports to: Executive Directors
Pay Range: $22-27/hr DOE, up to 36 hours per week

The Foundation for Youth Resiliency & Engagement (FYRE) was created to achieve one overarching goal: to advocate for equitable opportunities that allow all youth to thrive. Some Basics:
● You have a deep empathy and understanding for youth and a knowledge of the factors, barriers, and trauma that perpetuate youth disengagement and behavioral challenges
● You believe that all young people deserve medically accurate and non-judgmental comprehensive sexual health education.
- You believe that conversations regarding boundaries, healthy relationships, local resources, and safety are critical for healthy youth development
● You can easily connect with young people within the 12-24 age range● You can develop and maintain community partnerships regarding healthy youth activities
Some Specifics:
● You will develop and facilitate a range of prevention activities that include elements of art, culture, health, education, and wellness
● You will be trained to teach evidence-based comprehensive sexual health education
● You will co-facilitate FYRE’s Youth Leadership Groups
● You will cultivate 1:1 mentor - mentee relationships with young people who need it most
● You will develop youth-friendly workshops that cover topics such as healthy relationships, sexual health, self-esteem and more
● You will provide consistent documentation and reflections regarding program outcomes and 1:1 youth advocacy work
● You will provide transportation as needed for FYRE youth
● You will provide support in the oversight of the MTN recreation area during open door hours
● You will help support youth event nights and structured activities
● You will see young people. You will learn their names, practice intentional listening, get to know them, and cheerlead them on!
● You will join an all staff meeting once per month, a quarterly training, and shared learning sessions as they arise
● You will conduct other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
● A Bachelor’s Degree in social services, community health, education, cultural studies (American
Indian/Latinx/African American, etc), recreation, or an allied field
- OR; an associate’s degree and at least 2 years of experience serving young people
● Possession of a Washington State Driver’s License
● Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Ability to occasionally work on weekends or evenings
Preferred Qualifications:
● Bilingual
● Experience facilitating a group
● Experience with program development
● Detail oriented
● Shared lived experience(s) with populations we serve (low-income, formerly incarcerated, BIPOC,
LGBTQ+, teen parent, rural, etc.)
