Health Reporter-Acadiana Job at Capital City Press

Capital City Press Lafayette, LA

Nonprofit news outlet The Current is seeking an enterprising reporter to cover a brand new health beat in collaboration with The Advocate, Louisiana’s largest newspaper and a Pulitzer Prize winner.

The ideal candidate can combine data and narrative to explore health disparities in South Louisiana, exposed in harsher light by the Covid-19 pandemic, and to rigorously examine workable solutions. This reporter will be based in Lafayette and employed by The Current but publish content for both outlets.

You will primarily produce enterprise and solutions oriented stories that connect the dots between health and the social factors that impact it: housing, education, the environment and more. We’re a small newsroom, and some general assignment duties on adjacent topics will be included.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, STD-short term disability, and LTD-long term disability insurance, 401K (company match), and PTO (paid time off).

The Advocate and The Current are equal employment opportunity employers, committed to recruiting, developing, and promoting a diverse workforce while providing unique opportunities and career paths for our employees. We encourage applicants of all backgrounds and experience levels to apply.
