GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide vocational instruction in the field of Healthcare Assistance to motivated students with intellectual disabilities. Introduce the fundamentals of the vast and growing industry of assisting in an elder care facility. Curriculum includes the many facets of aging, dimensions of health and wellness for this demographic, dementia care, person centered care, basics of hygiene, safety, and sanitation. Additionally, dietary aide and activity assistant roles will be taught. Geriatric Sensitivity Simulation Program is used, (including a Walker, Geriatrics Suit, and a Geriatrics Glasses Kit) and hands-on instruction in both traditional and non-traditional learning modes are important facets of this role.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Provide a multi-modality teaching approach including field trips, on-campus excursions and arranging for guest speakers.
- Prepare specific curriculum and instructional materials.
- Consult and co-plan with Project Forward colleagues.
- Attend monthly staff meetings and program events throughout the year.
- Write assessment reports and conduct individual progress conferences with students.
- Monitor student performance and advise students regarding progress.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Strong experience within the vocational area being taught.
- One year of experience working with or teaching individuals with special needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player with students and Project Forward staff.
- Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
- Proficiency using technology in educational setting, including Microsoft Office 365.
- Ability to perform physical/hands on work.
- Valid MA State Driver's License.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $34.45/hour for up to 12 hours a week during Spring 2023 semester. Non-benefited MCCC/MTA Unit position.
