Mechanic duties and responsibilities require a familiarity with all aspects of diesel equipment operation and must understand the functions of the major components and systems such as (hyd system, PTO system, tracks systems, Diesel Engines; air suspension, air brakes; 12/24 volt systems.

· Mechanic must be competent at using servicing and maintenance tools and equipment, and be familiar with different categories of lubricants and service parts.

· Mechanic must be able to repair or replace components that are subject to wear, such as brake parts, steering and suspension components, tires and exhaust system pieces

· Read technical manuals to understand equipment and controls

· Repair or replace broken or malfunctioning components

· Perform tests and run initial batches to make sure that the machine is running smoothly

· Detect minor problems by performing basic diagnostic tests

· Test malfunctioning machinery to determine whether major repairs are needed

· Adjust and calibrate equipment and machinery to optimal specifications

· Clean and lubricate equipment or machinery

Requirements:

· Minimum 10 years as Diesel Mechanic - preferred

· Certification from vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus

· Valid certification (e.g. ASE) preferred

· Excellent knowledge of diesel engines; hyd, fuel, electrical, air brakes and suspension systems

· Must be familiar using shop equipment such as floor jacks, air compressor, grease guns, torque wrenches, cutting saw’s, jump cables, jack stands; multimeters; test lights, etc

· Must be physically qualified and able to lift up to 45 lbs

· Must be physically fit to work in confined space areas, working 5-15 feet above ground, and outdoor production environment
