HELP DESK TECHNICIAN
$17.73/Hour - HIRING BONUS: $2,500
DESCRIPTION
Under the direction of the MIS manager, the purpose of this position is to assist with the daily operations of the MIS division. Duties will include both technical and user assistance. Employees in this classification provide basic user support and instruction in the maintenance and utilization of software applications in conjunction with equipment. Incumbents perform essential functions as outlined herein according to the area of assignment, to include operating the City’s Audio Visual equipment during live broadcasts on the government channel. The employee will be required to work various after-hour City Council and Committee meetings to operate the AV Control Room, including other multi-media devices in the Council Chambers. Employees must be able to work with all types of personnel, including the Police department. Employees will also perform technical work related to updating the City of Sebastian’s websites and Local Government Channel (COStv). Performs related work as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as the first point of contact for our users seeking technical assistance.- Perform remote troubleshooting through diagnostic techniques and pertinent questions.
- Determine the best solution based on the issue and details provided.
- Direct unresolved issues to the next level of support personnel.
- Provide accurate information on IT products or services.
- Record events and problems and their resolution in our help desk ticketing system.
- Follow-up with vendors and update project statuses and information.
- Pass on any feedback or suggestions from users.
- Identify and suggest possible improvements on procedures.
- Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports, and other correspondence.
- Must be available to work evening hours or weekends.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
- Tech-savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases, and remote control
- Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
- Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
- Proficiency in English
- Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school Diploma
- Associate’s degree or completion of equivalent course work or training in computer science or closely related field; bachelor’s degree in computer science or closely related field preferred; supplemented by minimum of three (3) years progressive experience in troubleshooting hardware and software problems in stand-alone and/or networking environments, with the ability to provide end-user support and instruction applicable to the area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Prior experience in administrative positions is a plus.
- Possession of a valid Florida Class “E” Driver’s License
