This position will work with students from migrant seasonal backgrounds in the HEP grant
and will be responsible for developing and planning appropriate tutoring strategies for the
General Education Development (GED) program, including alternative delivery strategies
when appropriate. The position will collaborate with other instructors in the program to
assist the students.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM: High School diploma and experience tutoring youth and/or adult learners with
a demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to cultural issues of learners is required.
Bilingual in English and Spanish required (read, write and speak).

PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree in education or closely related field. Experience teaching at
the college level or developmental education level.

  • Experience tutoring in a community college GED, or Adult Education program.
  • Experience working with migrant students or similar populations.
  • Experience incorporating technology and computer assisted learning in the

classroom and course curriculum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Based on needs and skill level, the tutor may assist HEP Instructor teaching all GED subjects
(Language Arts, Math, Social Science and Natural Science) in English and Spanish.

Maintain records of attendance, student goals and outcomes, student progress and other
required student data for program reporting purposes.

Maintain college facilities and equipment.

Maintain effective, positive working relationships with Adult Ed. and HEP faculty, staff and
students and actively support a teamwork environment.

Attend staff meetings, student activities and required trainings.

Maintain office hours sufficient to meet the needs of students for consultation and
advisement.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Part-time (up to 19 hrs per week), grant-funded, Classified, non-exempt position.

BENEFITS
Per Oregon law, 1 hour of sick leave will be earned for every 30 hours worked.
