Reports To: Humke Elementary Building Principal
This is a Full-Time Position: M, Tu, Th,& F - 7:45 to 4:15 & W - 7:45 to 3:15 (38-40 hours per week)

Job Goal
Work in collaboration with all staff to carry out behavior interventions that are consistent with practices that support the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan while also being a behavioral resource for our after-school program.

Qualifications

  • To possess or demonstrate the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to support teachers and students with behavioral strategies that result in students learning how to self-regulate and gain independence with managing emotions.
  • Ability to supervise children and manage student conflict
  • Must have a pleasant disposition and the ability to rationally detach from difficult situations
  • Demonstrate knowledge and the ability to grow in applying behavioral interventions with students consistent with building commitments
  • Willingness and ability to be trained and coached on Conscious Discipline and Nonviolent Crisis

Intervention Strategies offered by CPI.

  • Must have the ability to deal confidentially with all student matters
  • Keyboarding skills to record behavior incidents and track interventions

Performance Responsibilities

  • Respond to calls for assistance that result in supporting and empowering the adult in charge.
  • Serve on the playground to support behavioral learning goals over the lunch hour.
  • Collaborate with the school counselor at regular intervals to determine where additional support/interventions are needed with students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and educational assistants at regular intervals to determine what recess supports need to be reinforced or celebrated.
  • Advocating, developing, and assisting in the implementation of the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan.
  • Collaborate with the principal at needed and regular intervals to make sure the Humke Elementary Behavior Management Decision Flow Chart is properly implemented as noted in the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan.
  • Track and report necessary behavioral data used by the Student Assistance Team and Professional Learning Communities.
  • Coach students on responsible decision-making, organization, and conducting themselves respectfully with peers and adults.
  • Learn, apply, and share behavioral strategies that meet the unique behavioral needs of each student requiring a behavior intervention consistent with building commitments.
  • Work with staff to identify patterns of behavior and develop appropriate proactive responses
  • Help students resolve conflicts and repair relationships consistent with school practices
  • Help plan and implement behavioral interventions that meet the needs of students
  • Work in the classroom supporting teachers when not supporting behavior interventions.
  • Serve in our afterschool program as a behavioral resource agent and positive influence on others.

Other Tasks/Responsibilities

  • Provide the principal with a daily log sheet of students supported through radio calls
  • Manage and organize extra resources to assist teachers in succeeding with the HES School-Wide Social Emotional Learning Plan
  • Promote CARES by posting pictures of students practicing CARES and sharing pictures with the clerical assistant.
  • Meet with students who are celebrating birthdays at the start of each day.
  • Serve as a morning door greeter while supervising the 4K students at the start of the school day. This includes creating visuals at Door A & M to help organize students.
  • Assist with an end-of-the-day hallway duty
  • Collaborate with the Lead Playground Educational Assistant & the PE teacher to make sure the playground equipment is properly maintained and stored.
