Safe, habitable and affordable housing is a basic need. The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (ULMS) Housing Department provides direct service programs and resources to individuals and families through shelters, transitional housing, rental assistance and home ownership programs. ULMS Housing Department is actively seeking employees for the position of Homeless Outreach Coordinator. The Homeless Outreach Coordinator is responsible for providing outreach and referral services specifically to homeless individuals and families of color and connecting them to internal and external services to transition them from the street into safe affordable shelter. This role plans events, gives presentations, and utilizes other effective marketing tactics to increase trust, aid the homeless, and refer them to the ULMS Intake team for case management and support.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • HS Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Human Service or related field is preferred
  • 1+ years case management or homeless outreach experience
  • Ability to read and write in standard English
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Ability to prepare communications, such as memos, emails, reports and other correspondence
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office - Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and set priorities
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety of audiences especially the homeless
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and sensitivity to the needs of adults with multiple challenges
  • Ability to work well under-pressure
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and make decisions based upon the analysis of individual unique factors
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality
  • Experience in working with ethnic/minorities
  • Non-profit experience strongly preferred

ULMS Total Compensation

** Most Benefits will take effect on the 1stof the month following a 60-day waiting period

  • Medical - $5959.80 per year

  • Workers Compensation Coverage - $395.20 - $3,591.33 per year (depending on class code)
