Homeschool Teacher- Northwest Cary YMCA Job at YMCA triangle
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Homeschool Teacher is responsible for developing and leading assigned lessons for a group of children in the YMCA Homeschool program. They must run the program with safety in the forefront and provide a quality experience to children and parents.
They are responsible for managing these functions in accordance with the stated mission goals and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.
Schedule:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains regular, clear, and concise communication within area of responsibility.
- Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning in math education and research and knowledge of developmental behaviors of all students.
- Teaches lessons in science to small groups of children in Y Homeschool program.
- Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction in the form of discussion, direct teaching, demonstrations and independent practice using a variety of proven methods.
- Adheres to program quality and fidelity standards.
- Attends staff meetings and trainings.
- Prepare complete lessons plans for substitute teachers.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Maintains positive relationships with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience working in an academic setting.
- Completion of an internship or field experience in secondary education is preferred.
- Previous experience working with students in different grades is preferred.
- Exceptional oral, public speaking and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Multi-lingual desired but not required.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.

- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings.
- Compliance with all COVID related PPE, cleaning, reporting and prevention expectations efforts. Further training and detail will be provided upon question and/or hire.
