Ivy Creek Hospice is looking to hire a full time CNA. Pay range is $12.50-$13.50 DOE.

General overall Role and Responsibilities:

The nursing assistant is a para-professional member of the hospice team who works under the supervision of a registered nurse or therapist and performs various services for a patient/client as necessary to meet the patient’s/client’s personal needs, to promote the patient’s/client’s comfort, and a safe environment. The nursing assistant is responsible for observing patients/clients and reporting/documenting these observations and the service provided.

Duties of the job

Responsibilities of the nursing assistant include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Provident personal care including:

A. Baths

B. Back Rubs

C. Oral hygiene

D. Shampoos

E. Changing bed linen

F. Dressing and undressing patients/clients

G. Skin care and prevention of skin breakdown

H. Toileting activities

I. Keeping patient’s/client’s living area clean and orderly, as appropriate

2. Prepares nutritious meals and/or snacks, as appropriate.

3. Taking and recording oral, rectal and axillary temperatures, pulse, respiration and blood pressure when ordered (within the training limitations of the aide).

4. Assisting in ambulation and exercise according to the plan of care.

5. Performing range of motion and other simple procedures as an extensional therapy service as ordered (within the training limitations of the aide).

6. Doing patient’s/client’s laundry, as appropriate.

7. Meeting safety needs of patients/clients and using equipment safely and properly (foot stools, side rails, etc.).

8. Reporting on patients/client’s condition and significant changes to the assigned supervisory nurse.

9. Adhering to the Agency’s documentation and care procedures and care procedures and standards of personal and professional conduct.

10. Attends all staff meetings, patient care conferences, and in-service presentations as required by agency.

Reporting relationships:

Reports to: Hospice Clinical Director

Professional Development:

Responsible for obtaining and maintaining a level of at least 12 continuing in-service hours annually.

Job Qualification

1. Has one year experience in hospital or nursing home setting.

2. Is at least 18 years of age and is a high school graduate or equivalent.

3. Possesses and maintains good physical stamina and mental health. Presents pre-employment physician’s health clearance, including negative TB skin test and/or CXR.

4. Has ability to read and follow written instructions and document care given.

5. Is self-directing with the ability to work with little direct supervision.

6. Has empathy for the needs of the ill, frail, and impaired.

7. Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.

8. Is a licensed driver with automobile that is insured in accordance with the Agency’s requirements and is in good working order.

Education Necessary to Perform Job:

1. High school graduate or equivalent.

Desired education to perform job:

1. Completion of recognized nurse assistant training program.
