The Housekeeping Coach is responsible for providing services to include cleaning, stocking, and removal of trash in designated areas of the Club by performing the following duties.

Employee is expected to exercise discretion and judgment, develop work routines and engage in positive relationships with other employees, members and guests.

The Housekeeping Coach is directly responsible to the Assistant General Manager.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various types of work performed in this position. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

  • Cleans all sinks, counters, vanities, mirrors, and air vents in the rest rooms and locker rooms.
  • Maintains cleanliness and well stocked locker rooms at all times by cleaning and stocking all areas within the locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, changing areas, etc.
  • Removes trash, empties wastebaskets, and replaces liners in all public areas of the Club (rest rooms, locker rooms, cardiovascular/strength floor, child care area, front desk.
  • Restocks paper products and liquid soap as needed in rest rooms, locker rooms and child care.
  • Launders and restocks towels.
  • Checks all areas of the Club for cleanliness and corrects any situation that cannot wait until the night shift.
  • Communicates any cleaning needs that cannot be addressed during the shift to the supervisor or general manager.
  • Serves as substitute staff in a standard Club position (e.g. front desk) while regular staff perform “opposite sex” locker room cleaning for the Housekeeping Coach.
  • Vacuums, sweeps or picks up trash on floors as needed.
  • Performs other housekeeping related duties as assigned.
  • Performs their specific role as outlined in the Safety Manual for emergency situations.
  • Supports the company’s philosophy, goals and adheres to policies.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School Diploma or equivalent required, prior maintenance and/or housekeeping experience preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each area of responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to support and contribute to community team.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read and understand instructions including, but not limited to, checklists, directions, MSDS labels, Safety Data Sheets, etc.
  • Must have the ability to print and speak in English.
  • Must have the ability to apply understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions.
  • Must have the ability to effectively operate cleaning tools and equipment (broom, mop, vacuum, high pressure water equipment, floor wax and/or buffer etc.).
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and establish and maintain effective working relationships with applicants, company staff, and the general public.
  • Must be well organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task with strong attention to detail.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit; crawl; lean; walk; stoop; talk; hear; lift and/or move up to twenty pounds; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is also required to use repetitive hand/wrist, griping and elbow motion. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is normally performed in an office work or wellness center environment, which requires the employee to work near moving mechanical parts and equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to the following conditions: wet or humid conditions (non-weather), fumes or airborne particles, work near moving mechanical parts, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud with increases/decreases in noise level without notice due to the proximity of TV’s, exercise machines, and stereos.

The employee may be required to work a flexible schedule, work overtime and/or extended hours as needed.
