Housing Assistant Job at Georgetown University

Georgetown University Washington, DC 20007

Requirements
Job Overview
This crucial position will assist the Georgetown Scholars Program with two crucial pieces of our program:
1) Serve as the primary GSP lead on Georgetown’s “Bridge Housing Initiatives”. The person in this role from the GSP side offers guidance to students - as well as practical assistance - for housing when the dorms are closed. Examples of bridge housing include summer and winter break. Examples include students whose families are in shelters or in war-torn countries such as Ukraine.
2) Serving on the GSP necessity fund grant review cmte. This person helps review requests for grants and, in concert with GSP’s Deputy Director, makes decisions on student micro-grants such as those that cover medical care.
This person’s support allows the university to implement our goal of “care for the whole person” by awarding grants to students for items not covered in the Cost of Attendance but are essential for college persistence (ex: mental healthcare counseling if CAPS refers a student to longer-term care, prescription coverage as even a modest co-pay can be cost prohibitive for a low-income student, glasses, flights home if a family member dies). This role also alleviates student stress related to searching for housing, so Georgetown’s students can keep some focus on academics.
