New Alternatives, Inc is a private nonprofit agency that provides a wide range of services to children, youth and families in San Diego and Orange Counties. Services include residential, out-patient, day treatment and in-home support services.

The THP+ program provides housing assistance, employment and educational counseling and case management services to former foster youth, ages 18-25 years old. Participants can stay in the program for up to 3 years and meet at least weekly with case management staff. NAI Inc. is looking for a full-time Housing Specialist with flexible hours, to work in our transitional housing program for former foster youth.

New Alternatives, Inc. falls under the California Public Health Order and is additionally required by our county contract to ensure that all employees are vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19.

Duties:

  • Perform monthly housing inspections in apartments throughout San Diego county
  • Coordinate and ensure completion of maintenance repairs with vendors
  • Works closely with case managers and other team members in a collaborative fashion
  • Coordinate move-ins and move-outs of participants
  • Identify and secure new apartments throughout San Diego county Develop and maintain working relationships with landlords and property management

Requirements:

  • One year working with severely emotionally disturbed youth or foster youth
  • BA/BS degree
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to be a strong team player who needs minimal direct supervision
  • Experience with property management preferred
