We are looking for an individual interested in an entry-level HR role who has administrative experience in a retail or hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be supremely organized and detail-oriented with good proactive instincts for how best to be of help in a fast-moving and rapidly changing environment. They must be flexible, quick to learn, be able to anticipate needs of both individuals and the organization and improve systems/processes that support the entire organization.

Job Description

The Human Resources Assistant works with the Human Resources Manager to administratively support a variety of culture and people related initiatives aimed at creating an environment where our people can do their best work. The primary responsibility of this role will be to support the Human Resources Manager and Chief People Officer to achieve the administrative initiatives of the HR team. The individual must be self-motivated and excited about the opportunity to learn multi-faceted HR functions within a growing, fast-paced organization.

Responsibilities

Overall duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR department.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date files, documents, and digital records of employees.
  • Assist with recruitment by drafting job descriptions, posting job ads, reviewing candidate applications, and scheduling interviews as needed.
  • Support all internal and external HR related inquires or requests including but not limited to employment verifications, unemployment claims and employee questions.
  • Reconcile monthly benefit statements and process payments online.
  • Assist with drafting HR communications including annual notices and policy changes.
  • Manage employee uniforms by reviewing and submitting orders and working with vendor to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide clerical support including drafting change letters, offer letters, promotion letters and scheduling meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between the organization and external benefit providers and vendors.
  • Assist with reviewing and correcting vendor EDI files.
  • Assists with New Hire Orientation including reviewing and processing I-9’s, presenting benefits, reviewing life events and adding new hires to benefit plans.
  • Assists with managing FMLA leave, workers’ compensation claims and LOA’s.
  • Assists with planning and execution of annual projects such as Open Enrollment, ACA reporting, EEO-1 reporting, 401(k) audit and 5500’s.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Skills

Required

  • 2-3 years of administrative experience
  • Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred

  • Experience in retail or hospitality
