HR Generalist

Job Purpose
The HR Generalist is responsible for completing a variety of tasks to support the daily operations of the HR Department. Responsibilities include coordinating human resources activities, recruitment, employee relations, facilitating onboarding for new hires and enforcing company policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
- Attends and participates in team member disciplinary meetings, investigations and terminations.
- Assist with job fairs and all areas of recruiting, including creating job requisitions, manage background process, drug test process and processing of new hires.
- Conducts new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations and recommended best practices.
- Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Assist to resolve team member concerns related to payroll, compensation, benefits, leaves, vacation accruals, etc.
- Must have a valid driver’s license to attend meetings, company functions, run errands, etc.
- Performs all other job-related job duties as assigned.
HR Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner in the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures, including the creation and delivery of training/communication programs as needed.
- Assist in the coordination of updates to the handbook and manuals as needed.
- Complies with all federal, state and local laws, as well as Company policies and procedures.
- Participate in weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings and other communication meetings as needed.
- Act as a resource for compensation and benefits issues.
- Identify ways to recognize team members. Assist with strategies to improve overall morale among team members.
- Promote inclusion and an equitable work environment for all team members.
- Participate in investigations with may include; unfair treatment, discrimination allegations, harassment complaints, and other potential legal matters.
- Maintain and monitor online recruiting methods (Indeed, LinkedIn, Zip Recruiter).
- Assist with open enrollment for medical, dental, vision and supplemental benefits.
- Educate newly hired team members on HR Policies, internal programs and processes during onboarding.
- Communicate to the HR Manager concerning employment issues, employment records, unemployment claims, workers compensation matters and safety and security.
- Assist with the FMLA, Leave of Absence/Accommodation requests which may include religious accommodations and other work accommodations.
- Track and maintain work cards, licensures and driving records through an internal ATS system.
- Maintain and respect confidential information.
- Review, track and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training.
- Assist in maintaining HR filing systems.
- Communicate effetely with team members and share appropriate information to ensure overall team success.
Supervisory Responsibility
- This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Requirements
- Position involves kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying and/or moving objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs.
- Capable of working extended hours, including weekends and holidays as necessary.
Environmental Requirements
- Work onsite at a Timbers location or company-sponsored event, which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky, indoor and/or outdoor service.
- Must be able to work on more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes and delays. Must be able to remain focused and work effectively, efficiently, and cheerfully under such circumstances.
- Must be able to work effectively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful and demanding.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an HR Generalist role.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize projects, ability to function under time constraints and deadlines with attention to detail, work with minimal supervision, exercise judgment and adapt directions from one assignment to another.
- Strong proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong decision-making and sound judgment skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
