Job Description:
Join a team of scientists and engineers leading and supporting efforts associated with design, development, testing and integration of software for gun weapon systems integrated with air, land, and sea platforms. The User Centered Design (UCD) group within the Human Systems Integration (HSI) branch is seeking individuals who are able to apply Human Factors expertise and methods to UCD processes for naval systems. Projects require a detailed understanding of Human Factors Engineering (HFE) and Human Computer Interaction (HCI) design principles and an ability to translate that understanding into a User-Centered Design for the Warfighter. This role will focus on defining, designing, developing, and evaluating products to verify that designs that will allow the Warfighter to accomplish tasks to meet mission goals. This role requires knowledge and experience with analyzing human performance and the use of tools and methods to understand, visualize, design and evaluate user performance.
Responsibilities:
- Provide subject matter expertise in Human Factors Engineering and Human Computer Interaction to the design of complex systems (hardware and software).
- Apply Human Factors principles to software design: apply User-Centered Design processes and standards in an Agile software environment, develop requirements, develop user story acceptance criteria, conduct task analyses, conduct cognitive walkthroughs, conduct workload analyses, conduct usability and heuristic evaluations, create storyboards, create use cases, create workflows and create wireframes for User Interface (UI) development, verify requirements and analyze user performance.
- Lead and conduct research and applied human-centered systems engineering in the design of Naval and United States Marine Corps (USMC) systems.
- Other common terms or skill sets related to the type of experience that is desired: User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI), Usability Engineering, User Research, Usability Testing, Usability, Heuristic Evaluation, Human Centered Design, Interaction Design, Experimental Design, Engineering Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g. engineering, physical science, physics, chemistry, computer science, or mathematics.
- Effective communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance.
