Job Summary


The Human Resources Assistant will use their analytical abilities to fulfill any and all tasks related to Human Resources including compliance, benefit administration, leave of absence processes, while acting as a liaison between management and the field. The Human Resources Assistant is responsible for providing assistance in the Human Resources Department through being the primary point of contact for any all divisions and employees in regard to HR matters in addition demonstrate creativity to boost morale within the organization through company events.

Main Responsibilities


  • Ensure employees are being dispatched by communication with union halls and Management (United Rock Products and Blue Diamond Materials)
  • Responsible for conducting union and non-union new employee orientation including background checks, scheduling drug screens, dissemination of safety, and benefits information (United Rock Products and Blue Diamond Materials)
  • Assist in recruitment efforts for the Company for vacant non-union and union positions (URP)
  • Assist Human Resources Department in carrying out various human resource programs and procedures for all company employees
  • Acts as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all databases utilized by the Company such as UNUM and Benefits Path
  • Acts as primary initiator in the completion of manual updates including but not limited to, pay increase, apprentice updates, terminations, W-4 changes, direct deposit updates, etc.
  • Ensure all documents pertaining to employees’ personnel files are scanned and indexed accordingly and within a timely manner
  • Responsible for the completion of EDDS forms
  • Maintain company training records in ColasWays
  • Track all leave of absences for all employees, union and non-union
  • Participate in Company benefits administration and annual open enrollment
    • Coordinate company engagement events
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience


  • Minimum of 1-year experience in Human Resources
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred)
  • Knowledge of basic HR principles, policies, practices and regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, and Outlook
  • Previous experience with HRIS systems, preferably JD Edwards and Success Factors
