Human Resources Assistant - Des Plaines, IL Dealership

Seeking a skilled and diligent Human Resources Assistant who is interested in expanding their human resources knowledge and skills. Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, this individual will support human resources processes including tracking, safety and compliance adherence, administrative tasks, recruiting, interviewing, background procedures, onboarding and training support for multiple dealerships.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support pre-hiring and onboarding processes
  • Scanning of files and documentation
  • Tracking for safety and health processes
  • Manage Worker's Compensation process for business units
  • Ensure that background checks are processed timely; following up with applicants as needed for additional information
  • Pre-screening and interviewing preparing
  • Facilitate new hire orientation for associates
  • Support training initiatives related to process, leadership and compliance
  • Updating and maintaining job descriptions for all positions
  • Work closely with the Human Resources Manager on HR activities to seek guidance and support

COMPETENCIES:

  • Demonstrate initiative, organization, action planning and coordination skills.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal aptitude.
  • Strong pre-screening and interviewing skills
  • Must have strong technical computing and typing skills.
  • Have a high level of emotional intelligence, integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local, state and federal employment laws; including, but not limited to EEO, OSHA, FMLA, ADA, FCRA and FLSA .

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Human resources degree or work experience preferred. PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification a plus.
