About Us: Peak Foods LLC is a joint venture between Interstate Food Processing Corporation and Lakeside Foods. Our state of the art plant, located in Troy, Ohio, produces private branded whipped topping products for the retail, foodservice and industrial sectors. In addition to private label store brand whipped topping, we also produce our Truwhip whipped topping and Blendtopia frozen smoothies. We are customer driven and are the fastest growing producer of store brand whipped topping in the United States. We have the ability to provide national brand equivalent toppings that will build store brand loyalty. Consumer Reports’ sensory panel preferred the Peak product over the national brand.
Summary / Position Purpose: The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the daily functions of the Human Resources department, including recruiting, interviewing and hiring, training and on-boarding, and administering benefits / leave, while enforcing company policies and practices.
This position will report directly to the Vice President of Operations, with interaction from other departments as needed.
Principle Accountabilities: Activities performed on a regular basis with desired result that your position is expected to achieve.
- Recruits, interview, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings
- Conduct initial screening of new hires and lead the interview process
- Implement new hire orientation and employee recognition programs
- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
- Reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
- Assist in coordination of company events
- Assist in driving employee engagement activities
- Duties and tasks as assigned by Manager
Knowledge / Experience / Competencies:
- High School education or equivalent
- Multi-year experience as an Human Resources Generalist/Assistant or experienced within a customer service driven environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability to develop, comply with, and implement policies and procedures
- Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and practices
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office systems
- Ability to develop documents and policies as needed
- Demonstrated ability to measure and analyze data in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to interface with a computer and software applications
- Must be able to work with a high degree of accuracy
- Work with a team, as a team member, and as team leader
