SUMMARY

As the Human Resources Manager at Mendocino Farms, you will be a key strategic partner for leadership and a valuable resource for our team members. Your main areas of responsibility include performance management, compliance, HR system and Processes, Benefits, Worker’s Compensation, and other related HR functions. Human Resources Manager role falls under the TM Support Department. This position also works regularly with the Talent, Training, and IT departments.

KEY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the company’s Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, and Property Damage claims
  • Oversees and manages team members who are out of work due to work-related injuries and coordinates return to work with restaurant Managers.
  • Ensures proper investigation and reporting of incidents are taking place in the restaurants, as well as resolution with guests and others.
  • Works with the legal team, adjuster, and outside counsel on claims litigation.
  • Maintains insurance broker relationships.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations governing employment (EEO, wage and hour, employee benefits, leave policies, and practices)
  • Provides expertise, guidance, and coaching to restaurant leaders managing highly sensitive and complex employee relation matters, including performance management, terminations, people issues and trends, and all things People related.
  • Manages legal risk proactively
  • Develops and implements system processes to drive learning and knowledge-sharing across the organization utilizing the learning management system
  • Conducts employee onboarding for all Base Campers and works regularly with other departments for permission set up and access.
  • Manages the I9 approval process and audits annually.
  • Manages the Performance Management process for Base Camp.
  • Manages the Employee Engagement initiatives as directed by the company.
  • Manages the Employee Recognition Programs as directed by the company.
  • Assists in the development of HR training and Farmhouse HR modules.
  • Processes HR-related audits: Benefits, Leave-of-Absence requests, Worker’s Compensation Claims, etc.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the company’s HRIS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
  • Leads the open enrollment process for all employees.
  • Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility.
  • Effectively interprets FMLA and ADA implications
  • Assists in the development and implementation of human resources policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of human resource management experience preferred.
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential preferred.
  • Experience in restaurants, retail or convenience store preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
