Human Resources/Payroll Manager Job at Purvis Industries
Purvis Industries is currently looking to fill the role of Human Resources/Payroll Administrator located in the corporate offices in Dallas, Texas.
Job Summary
- Human Resources - Administers policies relating to all phases of human resources activity such as employment, compensation, benefits, employee relations and communications. Compiles and maintains personnel records.
- Benefits - Manages and administers employee benefit plans for organization.
- Payroll - Supervises processing of payroll, compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, verifying payroll tax filings, and calculating payroll
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the HR/Payroll Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Manager oversees and manages the department and the following job responsibilities.

Human Resources
- Creates and administers new employee onboarding information.
- Advises management of employee relation issues.
- Responds to inquiries regarding policies and procedures.
- Administers performance review program to management within organization.
- Administers benefits programs such as life, health, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, PTO, leave of absence and FMLA, COBRA, and employee assistance.
- Prepares and administers employee separation-related documentation.
- Ensures employee records are maintained accurately and timely.
- Prepares material and communicates information to employees about procedures and changes in a timely manner.
- Prepares and coordinates open enrollment materials and meetings.
- Maintains and records employee employment data in automated human resources information systems such as personal data, compensation, benefits, tax data, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason.
- Processes employment applications and assists in other employment activities.
- Updates employee files to document personnel actions and to provide information for payroll and other uses.
- Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons.
- Compiles data from personnel records and prepares reports.
- Supervises computation of wages and records data for use in payroll processing.
Benefits
- Plans, manages and administers employee benefit programs such as health, dental and vision insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, employee assistance, and other plans.
- Prepares material and communicates information to employees about benefit programs, procedures and changes in a timely manner.
- Enrolls new employees in benefit plans, along with processing and verifying employee change requests to benefit plans.
- Provides services to employees to answer their benefit questions, resolve problems related to access to or payment of benefits, orient newly eligible employees, and process enrollment forms and changes.
- Maintains benefits data in employee files, automated human resources information systems, and vendor databases.
- Maintains vendor contact to investigate discrepancies and provide information in non-routine situations.
- Analyzes and evaluates employee utilization of current benefits, services, coverage and options available through insurance and develops recommendations for review by upper management.
- Responds to notifications from state agency regarding unemployment claims filed by former employees.
- Recommends benefit plan changes to management.
Payroll
- Records, or directs recording of, new or changed pay rates in payroll and human resources systems.
- Directs computation of pay according to company policy.
- Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as insurance premiums, garnishments and other payroll deductions.
- Reviews payroll to ensure accuracy, as needed.
- Monitors payroll trend, such as overtime worked and shifts in payroll at branch level.
- Assigns duties and examines work in payroll department for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Coordinates monthly billings to insurance companies by reviewing insurance invoices against payroll and HR system reports.
- Research and resolve payroll tax notices.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrated understanding and application of payroll processes.
- Netchex software experience is preferred, but not required.
- Delivers superior customer service.

- Education: High school diploma (Bachelor's degree preferred)
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in similar position
