Human Resources Specialist- Houston Corporate Office, Downtown Houston, Texas


PURPOSE:
To support the Corporate Office and the Human Resources Department. Incumbent is responsible for performing routine clerical, administrative work, and data processing for the Human Resources Department.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Below is a list of essential duties of this position. Other duties may be assigned as needed.


  • Maintains reports for human resources corrective actions and performance improvements plans.
  • Prepares human resource reports as needed.
  • Assist with updates and posting of policies and procedures.
  • Assists with updating the HR SharePoint system.
  • Assist with the recruitment process and pre-employment screening process as well as the onboarding of new hires.
  • Performs Human Resources assistant clerical duties.
  • Develops and maintains office forms and procedures, and assists with administrative task.
  • Composes, types and edits correspondence, reports, memoranda and other material.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and matters handled.
  • Takes the initiative to identify problems, uses judgment to find appropriate solutions and follow through on resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Support team efforts, actively work to generate respect and enthusiasm, cooperate with others, and actively learn from other team members.
  • Report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position and willing to perform the duties as workload necessitates.
  • Employee shall comply with applicable regulatory and company health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  • Employee is expected to complete required training in a timely manner; perform duties in a safe and environmentally sound manner; and immediately report injuries/illnesses, environmental spills/releases, and any unsafe acts or conditions to supervision in support of continual improvement of the company's health, safety, environmental, and security performance.


EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Bachelor degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform the duties of this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • Requires 3+ years of office experience and must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Workday HRIS experience required.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information both within and outside of the department, be ethically responsible and have good judgment on information disclosure.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, manuals, reports and correspondence
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers and co-workers; ability to write correspondence and instructions, using exemplary grammatical and spelling skills
  • Ability to change duties throughout the day and to work with a variety of individuals
  • Ability to learn new computer software required to complete job duties.
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional and appropriate demeanor, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals and maintain effective working relationships with staff and customers
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, logistically organize and maintain many details and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently with general direction from supervisor
  • Capable of reporting to work on time prepared to perform duties of the position
  • Ability to carry out the duties of this position while helping the company to meet its mission and while adhering to policies, procedures and regulations.
