The HR/Payroll Specialist will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. This is a in-person position, Monday through Friday.
HR/Payroll Specialist Job Duties:
- Oversees company’s payroll system
- Oversees the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
- Ensuring employees follow all policies and procedures
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Oversees FMLA, HAS and 401(k) contributions and loans
- Completes employment verifications, wage garnishments, and unemployment requests
- Other duties that might come up
HR/Payroll Specialist Skills and Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, organizational development, business or related area; relevant work experience may be a substitute
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, safety, hiring and employee relations; able to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations
- Ability to create a culture of diversity, inclusivity, collaboration and teamwork
- Experience with analyzing data to guide strategic employment planning
