The Human Resource Specialist performs duties at the professional level in some or all of the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Management Coaching, Training and Development, Employment Equity program, and Legal Compliance. This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The HR Specialist must be self-driven, versatile, sensitive to corporate needs, employee goodwill, and business needs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Partners with Corporate HR Manager on decisions related to personnel including confidential and sensitive matters.
  • Maintains positive relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive matters in a direct and diplomatic fashion.
  • Ensures legal compliance in all aspects of the specialist function.
  • Assists Corporate HR Manager in coaching, counseling, and guiding managers before executing employee disciplinary actions.
  • Assists with hiring tasks as needed (reviews applications, interviews).
  • Acts as an employee relations specialist when needed.
  • Ensures compliance with USCIS Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification; periodically audits Forms I-9.
  • Helps coordinate employee service awards program and ceremony

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

HR compliance in all applicable labor laws including, but not limited to:

  • The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)
  • EEOC compliance
  • I-9 and E-verify compliance
  • Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance
  • Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADAAA) compliance

Bachelor’s degree and/or 5 plus years’ experience in Human Resources. PHR degree is a plus. Experience using UKG system is a plus

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:30am-5:00pm
