HVAC Mechanic Job at Frederick Health
This Full-time HVAC Mechanic position will work 80 hours bi-weekly from 8:00am - 4:30pm with rotational on call.

General Summary: Oversee and perform HVAC system testing, maintenance and inspection. Oversee Life Safety system testing, maintenance and inspection. Knowledge of pertinent healthcare regulatory requirements including Joint Commission regulations, NFPA 70, NFPA 101, ASHRAE 170. Assist trades and maintenance when required, support construction related activities and perform other Preventive and Corrective Maintenance and Repairs.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required:
- High school or equivalent preferred. Trade school preferred. Five years refrigeration experience. A valid driver’s license, to include a copy of driving record.
- Universal Refrigerant/EPA certification required.
- Ability to work independently and with a team.
- Ability to diagnose equipment problems and make repairs
- Knowledge of refrigeration equipment (including but not limited to refrigerators, freezers, ice machines), HVAC equipment, refrigeration gauges, meters, etc., refrigeration reclaim systems, pneumatic controls, blueprint reading, boilers, chillers, compressors and pumps.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical, electrical and plumbing drawings.
- Ability to conduct in-services.
Physical Demands:
Medium-Heavy Work – Lifting up to 75 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to 35 pounds while walking. Pushing or pulling up to 115 pounds infrequently or greater than 115 pounds occasionally (no more than once per hour).

Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions.
Contact Stress: Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves, tendons, and blood vessels. For example, using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase risk of musculoskeletal disorders.
Vibration: Operating vibrating tools such as sanders, grinders, chippers, routers, drills and other items can lead to nerve damage.
Working Conditions:
Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Risk Category B – MAY have exposure to blood or body fluids when performing tasks.
Reporting Relationship:
Reporting to Facilities Manager. Receives oversight and direction from Director of Facilities Management.
