Summary:

IMESD Virtual Learning Coordinator will direct and coordinate all program operations including instructional programs, community and family relations, student information system, program budget, and Oregon Department of Education reporting. The Virtual Learning coordinator will coordinate with IMESD human resources, business, IT, special education, assessment & accountability, and teaching & learning departments. The Virtual Learning coordinator/principal will collaborate with all IMESD participating consortium school districts and district assigned virtual learning liaisons.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Individuals will hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable, insured transportation for travel within the IMESD Region.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree in education
  • Minimum 5 years teaching experience
  • Prior experience in teacher leadership or administrator role preferred
  • Prior experience working in a virtual environment
  • Familiarity with and understanding of student information systems
  • Familiarity with and understanding of state reporting for Oregon Department of Education

SKILLS:

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work in a continuously evolving environment
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of instructional best practice

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise and evaluate virtual learning program design, staff, and curriculum through specific program evaluation procedures.
  • Schedule and conduct staff meetings.
  • Schedule and conduct district liaison, SPED case manager, and VLA task force meetings as needed
  • Communicate with district liaisons about student management
  • Communicate with district liaisons about student attendance and academic progress
  • Complete yearly evaluation cycles for each full-time educator
  • Complete an annual evaluation of extra-duty educators
  • Maintain appropriate supervisory records and files and assures appropriateness of student files.
  • Maintain effective communication within the program and effective public relations with schools, parents, and other agencies.
  • Assist staff regarding student curriculum, programming, management, data keeping, and interaction with other agency personnel.
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively as a team member to support IMESD’s organizational goals.
  • Participates in professional growth goal activities.

  • Exercise tact, diplomacy, independent judgment and aptitude for handling and processing privileged information with professional integrity
  • Stays up to date and knowledgeable on state and local initiatives
  • Attends and takes an active role in trainings and professional development related to this position

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • This position requires that you work in an IMESD building while working also online to perform the essential responsibilities of this position.
  • This position is a full time, 220 day position. The typical workweek is M-F, 8 hours a day. There will be occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours.
  • Any changes in contract days will be stipulated in each individual contract. Salary and benefits to be established by the IMESD Licensed Association in accordance with negotiated agreement with the IMESD Board of Directors. Schedule and assignments to be established by Directors and /or Assistant Superintendent

EVALUATION

This position will be evaluated according to IMESD’s evaluation criteria for Administrators and will report to the Director of Student Services
