JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Inclusion/Screening Specialist for Early Education Programs

Responsible to: Director of Early Education Programs

Basic Function: Providing support services to the Coalition’s contracted early care and education providers in developing and maintaining high-quality programs and services for School Readiness/VPK children and their families. The main focus areas of this position are Inclusion and Infant/Toddler Services and coordination of the Ages and Stages Questionnaire child screening processes.

General Responsibilities

Provide technical assistance, training, modeling, and coaching to providers and/or parents to improve the quality of care through the following:

  • Learning activities based on the Florida Early Learning and Developmental Standards
  • Evidence based practices to promote social/emotional competence
  • Infant/toddler and school-age programs
  • Positive behavior supports
  • Inclusion
  • Child developmental screening
  • Developmentally appropriate practices
  • Caregiver/child interactions
  • Curriculum implementation
  • Parent engagement

Conduct CLASS Assessments as needed; Observer raining will be provided by the Coalition

Perform other duties or responsibilities as required by the director{s).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in child development, education/early childhood education or closely related field with at least three (3) years' experience in: teaching, curriculum development, and/or directing child care operations; One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education/experience (combined) at the discretion of management
  • Preference given to those who hold at least one of the following: teaching certification, Voluntary Pre-K Director Credential, Florida Director Credential, Director Credential, and/or National Administrator Credential.
  • Preference given to those who are certified observers in the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS)
  • Must complete Implementing the Florida Standards in Preschool Classrooms: 3 Years Old to Kindergarten (VFSP) in addition to all training related to Florida Standards within six months of employment.
  • Familiarity with the Ages and Stages Questionnaire-3 and the Ages and Stages Social Emotional-2 screening tools preferred.
  • Familiarity with Government in the Sunshine Law preferred.
  • Must possess valid Florida Driver's License with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.
  • Must possess proof of required insurance.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
  • Must successfully complete background-screening requirements free of felony convictions.

  • Ability to analyze applicable policies/procedures, rules, and statutes.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills including the ability to write reports and make presentations to groups.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision at high level of effort.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with groups and individuals representing a variety of needs, abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and early education philosophies
  • Experience working with non-profit boards
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications and the School Readiness Information System

Typical Physical Demands:
Requires individual to perform a broad range of activities. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. Requires full range of motion, including manual and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination. Requires corrected vision, speech and hearing to normal range, or special accommodations made of reasonable and sufficient nature for completion of assigned tasks. Requires seated work at a desk, including use of a computer. Ability to lift 30 pounds. Ability to drive. Requires frequent automobile travel.

Position requirements call for both indoor and outdoor settings; therefore, applicants must be able to acclimate to changing temperatures easily. Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours.

Typical Working Conditions:
Primarily office or child care provider atmosphere.
