Position Summary: The Industrial Automation Application Engineer will listen to customers, develop automation solution concepts, prepare proposals and present solutions. Tasks include understanding customer needs, defining solutions using standard and custom modules, estimating cost and delivery, determining acceptable pricing, and writing professional technical proposals. Direct engagement with external customers is a significant portion of the responsibility requiring a firm technical understanding of elements of the automation system, customer manufacturing process, and familiarity with general component manufacturing in high volume environments.Job
Responsibilities:
- Review part drawings, layouts, manufacturing and equipment specifications and other customer documents to develop and prepare concepts for automated solutions
- Use SolidWorks and robot simulation tools to illustrate concepts and cell layouts for review with customers
- Provide detailed descriptions of the proposed system operation
- Create cost estimates of design engineering, components, assembly time and commissioning time for automation systems
- Prepare professional proposals for external customers to illustrate the features and corresponding benefits of our solution
- Follow up on open proposals in collaboration with our global sales team
Qualifications:
- Good oral communicator
- Proficient in writing and creating presentations ERP system user
- Mechanical design Controls design (a plus)
- Simulation modeling (a plus)
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering
- One year of experience in an engineering role related to automated equipment or high volume manufacturing
