Job Description
ROLE DESCRIPTION
The position of Industrial Engineering (IE) II will serve under the newly established Advanced Manufacturing group at Amcor Flexibles North America (AFNA) division. The IE will report to the Director of Advanced Manufacturing and will be responsible for assisting in the design and implementation of automation solutions and process improvements. This work will include defining project requirements, determining required analysis for project determination, performing facility layout analysis, operational process evaluation, work sampling, time studies, process documentation and flow analysis for numerous
multi functional manufacturing plants. The role will require a thorough understanding of IE concepts, principles, and practices and the ability to apply them in real world setting as well as create standard work documentation for others to apply IE analysis.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Aligns with and actively supports Amcor values by putting safety first in all situations. Serves as a role model to others by ensuring that all project work is completed in accordance with our safety policies.
Participates/collaborates with Project Teams to develop and implement end to end solutions for integrating automation on an assembly line level.
Conducts studies for small scale projects pertaining to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, and production record systems.
Responsible for updating/maintaining existing plant level simulations and works with the plants to identify impacts.
Responsible for validating IE requirements for small scale projects with multiple automation integrators and verifies that automation solution/proposals aligned with business strategies through the use of Just In Time/Lean
manufacturing tools and techniques.
Collects/Analyzes data for small scale projects and works with the IPT to validate current state processes/flows to establish an accurate model of the operation of a system.
Establishes Discrete Event Simulation (DES) baseline for small scale projects and collaborates with the IPT to propose/validate future automation solutions that improve cycle time, WIP, bottlenecks, throughput, capacity, resource utilization, and production rate changes of complex production systems.
Helps develop and implement optimized product flow and other improvement projects.
Able to understand and manipulate DES to analyze effects of changes on overall system and report out significant findings.
Able to create plant level optimized templates and one off reporting as necessary using Excel, Access, or PowerBI
COMPETENCIES
Core attributes: Working knowledge of DES Software (Simio), Minitab, Databases, SAP Production system, Lean Manufacturing, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Material Handling Systems
Advanced Excel ability including creating of templates, macros, and full VBA
application.
Data collection, normalization, conducting statistical analysis of data, and
summarizing results in graphical or tabular form.
Technical Expertise : contributes to the design and development of technical
solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solved using existing methods. Uses a forward looking approach when analyzing and implementing technical solutions.
Project Management : Effective team contributor; provides appropriate feedback and can recognize and respond proactively to project challenges and draws upon appropriate resources from other functional areas as needed to mitigate risk.
Communication: Demonstrates excellent written and oral communication skills when engaging with customers, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
Ability to prepare and deliver engineering presentations to a variety of audiences.
Collaboration: Actively engages in problem solving and creative thinking process. Inherent responsibility to train and mentor peers when appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelors degree in engineering Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related technical field.
3- 6 years of experience working within a manufacturing setting.
AASQ or IEEE certified for Lean and Six Sigma Green/Black Belt.
