Essential duties:

• Conducts self in appropriate manner as representative of SRC working in a diverse environment performing duties in a safe manner and assuring professional quality work to all our customers.
• Assists other employees as assigned in maintenance, handling and repair of rail equipment, stations and various areas of the rail yard in a safe and proper manner.
• Performs various physical duties in a maintenance environment working with dust, debris, dirt, gravel, in confined spaces, various and extreme outdoor weather depending on season.
• Learning about trach switches, turnouts, and other various railroad equipment and material.
• Loading and unloading, identifying railroad materials, machinery and tools, and distributes them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications while performing ALL safety guidelines provided by the company.
• Operating moveable machinery such as forklifts, adhering to our safety protocols
• Sorting railroad equipment
• Use of measuring tape
• Heavy Lifting
• The possibility to travel to various job sites
• Reads and interprets plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities
• Follows company and industry safety rules, practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Railroad experience necessary but not preferred. We will train on spot.
• Ability to use a tape measure to 32nd of an inch.
• Ability to follow directions when given
• Great attention in detail, ensuring safety in work and rail operations
• Willingness to learn
• Good attendance
• Demonstrated ability to bend, stoop, walk, reach, twist, climb and work at heights up to 20 feet, access confined areas, pull/push up to 100lbs.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time for extended periods of time on uneven terrain such as railroad ballasts and icy ground.
• Ability to understand and identify safety labels and operation instructions
• Ability to stay alert of movable equipment in or around the railyard.
• Ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a diverse workforce.
• Ability to work in harsh environments and inclement weather.
