Job Title: Industrial Shop Janitor- 1st Shift (7:00 am - 4:00 pm)
Reporting to: Shop Superintendent
Division: NPS Metals
Location: Fargo, ND
Summary/Objectives
The Janitor/Maintenance position performs Custodial/Preventive Maintenance work in the office, industrial areas and other building interiors.
Essential Functions
- Completes daily, weekly and monthly cleaning checklists.
- Keeps offices, surrounding building, grounds, and line shop facilities clean and orderly.
- Sweeps, removes trash and litter, and cleans furniture, sanitizes high tough areas daily.
- Assists with cleaning machinery and picking up boards
- Complete building cleaning scope(s) in a timely manner.
- Put up signs to signal necessary safety advisory signs when appropriate.
- Regularly inspect building(s) for necessary repairs (including, but not limited to lighting, windows, and fixtures) and communicate needs.
- Maintains Fire Extinguishers
- Positively interact with employees.
- Sometimes using ladders, dusts and washes walls, cleans ceilings and dusts and polishes light fixtures.
- Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
- May also sweep walks or remove snow or perform other incidental seasonal tasks.

- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- The ability to demonstrate concern for satisfying external and internal customers (employees).

- Participate in and support Continuous Improvement Programs, HR, and other company initiatives.
- Carry out duties in accordance with ISO Standards, and other company procedures.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Daily use of common cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, sanitizers, sprays, solvents and related supplies and equipment (including but not limited to vacuums, mops, floor burnishers, carpet cleaners, push carts).
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Environment is not fully climate controlled.
