Information Systems Epic Application Manager

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

Provides leadership expertise in planning, project implementation, policy creation and maintenance, and administrative decision making. Provides direct supervision to the application analysts. Assists in managing and trouble shooting incidents to facilitate timely resolutions. Provides leadership to cross-functional teams to implement and maintain the Epic electronic health record. Assists in prioritizing new projects, optimizations, and provides expertise during software selection.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Plans, coordinates, and oversees the Epic electronic health record (EHR) build, required integration, and implementation.
• Oversees end-user acceptance testing, completed by the identified subject matter experts.
• Maintains current knowledge of regulatory requirements and implements changes as appropriate.
• Provides ongoing monitoring of the quality of documentation, assisting with identifying areas of opportunity to improve/optimize the EHR.
• Monitors staff performance and initiates appropriate corrective action/evaluation in a timely manner.
• Delegates appropriately, manages resources to facilitate meeting organizational goals and milestones, and generates enthusiasm for the work.
• Assists in product selection committees.
• Assist with annual departmental budget and operates within budgetary guidelines.
• Sets clear performance expectations and holds people accountable.
• Exhibits accurate judgment in decision making.
• Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
• Develops alternative solutions.
• Uses concise, professional communication in multiple electronic formats, including email, PowerPoint, Word, OneNote and more.
• Ensures that staff complies with mandatory education, licensure requirements, mandatory health requirements, etc.
• Successfully uses project management methodologies and organizational template to lead projects and implementations.
• Expert understanding and use of change management methodologies and communication to facilitate successful project adoption and provide project transparency.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree required in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field.
• Five or more years of relevant experience in Healthcare IT with an additional two or more years in a leadership role, in either IT or hospital operations, demonstrating progressive leadership expertise.
• Experience in business and/or revenue cycle systems analysis, support, gathering, and writing features requirements.
• Experience in system test planning and execution desired.

Licensure

• Achieves applicable Epic certification within 90 days of completing Epic training.
• **Some roles, may require multiple Epic certifications**

Physical Demands/Work Environment

• Capable of performing light to medium duty physical tasks.
• Must be able to remain in a stationary position for 50% of the time.
• The work environment may be physically confining.
