Inspector Contractor - Northern California
Position Purpose: The Inspector Contractor is an
independent contractor responsible for ensuring timely completion of equipment inspections for National Accounts, Strategic Accounts, and other accounts as assigned per Big Iron’s Inspection Services Manager or the COO. Furthermore, the Inspector Contractor is responsible for both preparation of equipment for inspection and for the overall quality of the listings, ensuring the inspections are completed to the level of quality expected by BigIron.
Essential Functions:
Communicates and supports the Company’s mission, vision, and core values, while representing Big Iron through the process of equipment inspections
Product/Project Responsibilities
- Contributes to the definition and evaluation of checklists and software built to support the inspection process
- Completes listings and inspections to ensure compliance within expectations for both quality and completeness
- Reviews completed listings to ensure Quality Standards are met and where necessary correct deficiencies
- Works with Inspection Services Manager as needed to ensure that inspections are meeting Quality and Listing requirements
- Inspector Contractor will complete the BigIron inspection check list for each piece of equipment, picture each piece of equipment and video each piece of equipment that requires a video
- As needed Inspector Contractor may need to perform a “Make Ready” such as cleaning or detailing equipment before the inspection, photographing or video process can be completed
- Inspector will be required to travel (territory) as needed
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook and other applications used by the Company
- Proficient in the use of BigIron’s Listing app and Listing Website
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong customer service skills both internal and external
- Ability to meet deadlines and demonstrate time management skills
- Effective skills of listening, verbal, and written communications
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- High degree of integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain a professional and positive work ethic
- Must be familiar with farm, construction, and/ or transportation equipment
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/ Assoc. Degree or equivalent experience in related agricultural, heavy construction, material handling, transportation and/or other equipment fields
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Supervision Received:
- Direct Supervision from Inspection Services Manager
Physical Requirements:
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
- Near vision and far vision necessary and the ability to adjust focus
- Good hearing and continuous verbal (speaking) communication
- Occasional reaching requirements of out, overhead, and low (below knees)
- Must be able to do continuous sitting and occasional standing
- Good dexterity of fingers/hands
Working Conditions:
- Work both indoors and outdoors year-round, and climb on and off large equipment and trucks
