We are looking to recruit an Instructor/Assessor – Renewables to join our team at Sparrows in Houma.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure development and delivery of all training courses in accordance with GWO, OSHA, ANSI and other industry standards.

Main responsibilities

  • The main purpose of the Renewables’ Training Instructor is to deliver training and/or assessment to technicians in the wind industry.
  • Preparing and developing training courses and equipment for industry accreditations and ongoing audits
  • Delivery of all training modules
  • Develop new GWO instructors.
  • Welcome clients, provide detailed induction with emphasis on safety awareness. Discuss aims and objectives of the program they will be following with an overview of practical and theoretical sessions. Ensure participants are happy with the process and that they are fully familiarized with the evaluation or assessment process and outcome feedback, including their right to appeal.
  • Ensure that assessments are carried out in accordance with the Company Quality Assurance and Awarding Body criteria.
  • Ensure that robust feedback is provided to candidates on completion of the assessment process and that they are fully aware of the outcome and/or any remedial training requirements
  • Take a pro-active approach to highlighting new legislation or best practice updates to course material.
  • Ensure you are supportive of the training team and share information with the other instructors.
  • Be prepared to travel to any overseas location deemed safe by the Company (following the advice offered by the appropriate government agency).
  • Ensure that the standards of delivery expected within the Training Center are replicated at any client location and that clients are kept fully apprised of the outcome of training and or assessment programs.
  • As first point of contact on assignments promote to client, all services available through the Alpha/Sparrows Group.
  • Deliver training courses in accordance with the pre-determined syllabus for the course allocated, taking account of the requirements of all applicable legislation, the Company’s HSEQ Management System and any specific client guidelines.
  • Directly observe delegates throughout practical training sessions ensuring all exercises are conducted in a safe and professional manner. Proper paperwork must be completed for each practical exercise.
  • Assist in maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor emails and calls daily for possible schedule changes.

HSEQ responsibilities

  • It is mandatory that the incumbent is familiar with the Company's HSEQ Policy and takes an active role in the compliance and improvement of Sparrows Integrated Management System. The incumbent must report any incidents, near misses, actual or potential problems with products, services or systems to their Line Manager.
  • The incumbent also has legal responsibilities under country-specific health and safety legislation to follow all Company processes and procedures and familiarise themselves with the emergency response arrangements applicable to them. The incumbent is also responsible for the health and safety arrangements of subordinates (if any) and for any persons visiting them while on the Company premises.

Qualifications and experience
REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Minimum of 5 years in the renewables industry.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, GWO and other industry standards.
  • Develop course curriculum and content
  • Communication skills – written, verbal and listening
  • PC skills (knowledge of Microsoft work/excel products)
  • Ability to work with deadlines, prioritize and multi-task.
  • Self-starter with the ability to analyse problems and make decisions.
  • US and international travel required

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in the wind industry
  • OSHA General Industry Standards training
  • High fall rescue training experience
  • First aid instructor trained
  • GWO Instructor
