Instrumentation-Automation Supervisor Job at National Cement Company
PRIMARY FUNCTION
This position will be responsible to lay out and supervise work involving the installation, repair, maintenance, servicing, calibration and programming of the plant instrumentation and automation systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide ongoing support to the plant for all shifts by participating in the plant’s on call program. This includes evaluating and determining the course of action for electrical, automation & instrumentation issues after hours and on weekends and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency.
Attend and help troubleshoot any urgent or breakdown jobs as required to keep equipment running and to minimize downtime
Coordinate with Electrical & Instrumentation Maintenance crews in the installation of instrumentation and automation equipment and troubleshooting of electrical and control problems to enable continuous plant operability
Schedule and plan the work of Instrumentation and Automation maintenance personnel (electricians) for regular and weekend shifts.
Track the acquisition and use of materials to meet production requirements in coordination with electrical manager.
Researching new and improved electrical/electronic equipment and technology for possible integration into existing plant systems
Maintain time, ORs, material, equipment and other automation & instrumentation shop records and submit reports to maintenance management to contribute to the continual evaluation of operational efficiency and costs.
Ensure that process gas analyzers and CEM systems maintain and improve operational reliability and availability by developing and performing preventive maintenance programs to keep equipment running on a daily basis.
Inspect new construction and assist engineers in design requirements prior to construction to ensure compliance
Troubleshoot and diagnose plant system problems to provide resolutions and minimize downtime
Train and/or inform employees of new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, work policies and electrical codes and standards to maximize the staff’s skills and ensure compliance with Company & regulatory requirements
Assist the Automation-Robolab superintendent in maintaining, supporting, improving and updating cement plant process control systems and related application software and hardware, including Wonderware, GE PLCs, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC’s, and hard-wired full voltage control systems
Ensure that Automation & Instrumentation Maintenance department tools and equipment are in good working condition and that adequate stocks of consumables are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled.
Serving on interview panels for the selection of department candidates for hire (as necessary).

JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the Electrical & Instrumentation trades
Strong understanding of applicable electrical codes, standards and regulations
Comprehensive knowledge of industrial instrumentation (pressure, level, flow, temperature)
Knowledge and experience in process gas analyzers and CEMs systems.
Knowledge of DCS, HMI systems, GE PLCs, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PKS PLC’s and industrial networks as EthernetIP/ Devicenet, Profibus.
Demonstrated skill in the installation, repair and maintenance of all types of Electrical & Instrumentation system equipment and components
4 years of Electrical & Instrumentation/Automation repair and maintenance experience which includes 2 years of supervisor experience
Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office products including MS Excel, Word, Access, and Project
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
Considering the complexity of this position and its critical role within our plant National Cement's Instrumentation/Automation specialist position the candidate should hold a bachelors or college degree in electrical/electronics engineering.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· The employee ascends/descends vertical ladders and stair flights to access pre-heating equipment.
