Position Description
The Insurance Billing/Follow up Specialist is responsible for timely and accurate resolution of open insurance claims. This position will obtain all pertinent information from various sources to ensure proper follow up of medical claims. The Specialist will use payer websites or communication via telephone to determine the appropriate status of the outstanding claim and will document the systems accordingly.
Position Requirements
High School Diploma or GED and 1 year or more of experience in patient accounting in the healthcare environment. Excellent phone etiquette and internal/ external customer service skills. Must be able to type, follow directions and complete assigned tasks within given deadlines.
Preferred Requirements
1 year or more of experience in hospital or professional billing. Microsoft experience with Word and Excel. Demonstrate in-depth knowledge and experience in patient accounting technology solutions. Extensive knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance guidelines. Business courses such as medical terminology, accounting, finance, cash applications.
