Position Summary:

The Senior Integration Engineer for Airbus North America is responsible for the deployment and the integration of infrastructure components in support of projects and operational activities. Integration technology includes but is not limited to Server, Storage, Virtualization, Data Management, load balancing, network components, middleware platforms, and Information Management (IM) tooling in the Airbus North America environment. Following Airbus corporate IM and Enterprise service standards, this position ensures that systems are integrated aligning with architectural designs and standards of Airbus. This position covers integration activities within all North American sites including Grand Prairie, Columbus, Dallas/Fort Worth, Herndon, Ashburn, Washington DC, Miami, Denver, Mobile, Wichita, Atlanta, Fort Erie and Mirabel offices.

Primary Responsibilities:

People: 15%

  • Collaborate with Project Managers, architects and operational teams to facilitate the implementation of systems and platforms on prem and in the Cloud.
  • Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions with operational staff when progressing from integration activities to entry into service/run mode operations.

Project and Service Integration (non-operational): 60%

  • Establish supplier relationships with existing and future suppliers to ensure consistency within integration resources and across projects.
  • Leads the implementation of all integration activities for assigned projects.
  • Proactively supports the Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle for those projects assigned.
  • Designs and conducts Systems Integration Testing prior to launching solutions.
  • Develops and maintains project documentation to support technical delivery and integrations.
  • Resolve technical issues by confirming the validity of the problem, seeking known solutions, and compiling detailed documentation on issues as required by Support and Technical Operations.
  • Provides post-implementation technical support for issues related to entry into service activities.
  • Understands and follows Airbus change management process.
  • Works with the service delivery managers to implement hot fixes and upgrades as required.
  • Work with engineers and product managers across many of Airbus teams to identify and exploit opportunities for platform integration.
  • Build highly scalable systems for common functionality across infrastructure products, like logging, reporting, authentication, event tracking, messaging, etc.
  • Provide engineering leadership and domain expertise in the evaluation, development, and documentation of the Infrastructure and hosted applications platforms and systems.
  • Build and maintain product and service standards for capabilities that align with technology strategies of Airbus.
  • Assist in the development of requirements, design specifications, and security considerations for the field office physical architecture.
  • Provide network requirements to support business and operational activities e.g., data networks, backbone/core networks, storage networks, software defined networking, and interoperability with IPv4 and IPv6, external connectivity to cloud.
  • Close collaboration with infrastructure architecture and engineering teams to meet project and implementation schedule.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking innovative practices; participating in professional societies.
  • Liaise with IM Product and Services Managers in Europe to track, follow-up, and act as an integration point of contact for new services and integration activities lead from Europe.
  • Work with all IM Business Partners, Domain Leads, and Management to ensure smooth deployment of services and appropriate level of performance for systems integrated.
  • Participate, provide input and drive supplier improvement as required from Airbus monthly supplier reviews.
  • Integrate tooling and processes with EU counterparts and automate these when possible.
  • Provide and/or lead project work packages to deliver service delivery guides, knowledge base articles, and user documentation as required for sustainable entry into service.

Planning & Budgeting: 10%

  • Work with IM Infrastructure and Operations to identify funding needs to support projects in the IM Master Plan.
  • Collaborate with divisional and group counterparts to understand device standards, usage, and provide input for annual budgeting.
  • Works with IM Infrastructure and Operations to identify and capture (operational and project) license cost elements for the IM budget.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Other duties as assigned: 5%
  • Collaborate with global Airbus IM support functions to develop and improve standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Airbus IM standards, network security standards & evolving cyber security requirements.

Qualified Experience / Skills / Training:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in integrating systems in a Global Context
  • 5 years of operational support experience in an IM support environment
  • 5 years of demonstrated ability in leading teams of engineers
  • Understanding of Airbus IM standards, project and services methodologies and procedures is a plus
  • Knowledge of IM supplier landscape in North America is a plus

Licensure/Certifications:

  • Technical certifications a plus - VMware VCP, Citrix CCP, Citrix CCE, Microsoft MCSA, Cloud computing, Cisco CCNA, etc.
  • ITIL Foundations is highly preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:

  • Knowledge in the areas of ITSM, ITIL, Knowledge Article development and KPI Reporting
  • Broad knowledge of data and infrastructure technologies such as storage, virtualization, and directory services
  • Knowledge of architecture frameworks and methods
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, schedule and complete assignments
  • Strong analytical skills, with strong problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure environments such as Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure
  • Experience designing and documenting architecture and associated designs by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying required capabilities; writing specifications
  • Experience developing process/control changes by identifying gaps/issues/areas for improvement; and writing improved processes.
  • Demonstrated professional and technical knowledge through participation at educational workshops; understanding of current professional publications; and evidence of established/robust personal networks
  • Experience tracking project activity; resolving problems; publishing progress reports; recommending actions.

Communication Skills :

  • Experience preparing technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Strong oral and written, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
  • Fluent in English
  • German or French language skills are a plus

Technical Systems Proficiency:

  • Advanced knowledge of virtualization technologies; VMware vSphere, vCenter, Horizon, and supporting technologies required for the delivery of virtualization services.
  • Experience integrating workplace technologies including but not limited to Printing, Email, collaboration tools, MDM, Wi-Fi, and Identity management
  • Advanced level knowledge of structured cabling
